Thank you for visiting my website. My candidacy for Valencia County Sheriff is not about party affiliation; it is about public safety and leadership.
I strongly believe a sheriff should not only have law enforcement training and experience; but higher education to effectively make strategic and responsible decisions to the evolving changes in the
community and within law enforcement.

Endorsements

A VERY IMPORTANT ENDORSEMENT
I was honored and privileged to serve as Lt. Gov. for the State of New Mexico in the 1990s. Since then, I have been asked to endorse numerous candidates for public office. I have politely refrained from doing so until recently when I met Rodney Jones, an individual that impressed me so much that I am not only endorsing him, but planning to personally assist him in his campaign to be our next Sheriff for Valencia County.
A native of Valencia County, Rodney Jones is the best, most qualified candidate for this vitally important office.
As we all know, with our large rural areas and growing population, crime is a very important issue in Valencia County. Rodney Jones knows this and is equipped to hit the ground running in his commitment to curtail the growing criminal activity in our county. As a native son with a long background in criminal justice (from SWAP team member to detective), Rodney knows and understands the cultures and needs of our community.
Rodney’s opposition tried to keep Rodney off the ballot in every way possible. They failed miserably, as decided by the New Mexico Supreme Court. But by winning his case in the highest court, Rodney proved his determination and worthiness for the high office of Sheriff of Valencia County.

I am honored to be endorsing former Valencia County Sheriff Detective, Rodney Jones, for Valencia County Sheriff.
During my two-term tenure as Valencia County Sheriff, former Detetective Jones, was an integral part of the field division and later promoted to the detective division. Detetective Jones investigated numerous types of crimes; however, he specialised in Violent Crimes and Crimes Against Children. He formed a Crimes Against Children unit and trained field deputies on how to conduct the initial investigation. Because Crimes Against Children are of a sensitive nature, he put into place a referrral system to protect the integrity of the investigation for successful prosecution.
Drive and professionalism are how I would best describe Detective Jones. I once told him, “I wish I had ten other deputies like you.” His work ethics, passion for policing, and desire to serve the people of Valencia County is what makes former Detective Jones the best candidate for Valencia County Sheriff.

I have known Rodney Jones for quite a few years and have particularly worked along-side with him where I served as Chief of Police for the Los Lunas Police Department. His integrity, honesty, and reliability are some of his strengths that he demonstrates.
I have no doubt of his abilities and capabilities to efficiently manage the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office as Sheriff Of Valencia County.
